On Feb. 2, multiple former Trojans will showcase their talents in an attempt to take home the title of Super Bowl XLVIII champions.Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman stole the spotlight after the NFC Championship game against the San Francisco 49ers due to his passionate post-game rant. With 22 seconds left in the game, Sherman tipped the ball away from 49ers receiver Michael Crabtree, but it was former Trojan linebacker Malcolm Smith who came up with the interception in the end zone to clinch the game and the berth to the Super Bowl.Smith, the younger brother of former Trojan wideout Steve Smith, played at USC from 2007-2010, recording 96 tackles and one interception in his career. The Northridge, Calif. native also played on special teams during his first two years as a Trojan. Smith was drafted by the Seahawks in the seventh round of the 2011 NFL draft, going 242nd overall. This season with the Seahawks, Smith has 34 tackles and two interceptions.Smith is joined on the Seahawks by former Trojan linebacker Mike Morgan. From 2006-2010, Morgan recorded 83 tackles. Originally from Dallas, Tex., Morgan also played on special teams at USC. Morgan went undrafted in the 2011 NFL draft, but was later signed by the Seahawks, who might have been impressed by his 4.64 40-yard-dash time. This season, Morgan contributed six total tackles for Seattle.Seahawks tight end Anthony McCoy will also represent USC at the Super Bowl, but hasn’t played this season after being placed on injured reserve. From 2006-2009, McCoy caught 24 passes for 274 yards for the Trojans. In the 2010 NFL draft, Seattle took McCoy in the sixth round, 185th overall. For the Broncos, offensive tackle Winston Justice will carry on the Trojan legacy. The eight-year NFL veteran played at USC from 2002-2005. He was drafted 39th overall, in the second round of the 2006 NFL draft by the Philadelphia Eagles. Justice has fought injuries all season, but is listed as probable for the Super Bowl. Both the Broncos’ and the Seahawks’ coaching staffs also feature former Trojan greats.Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll is known as one of the greatest USC coaches in school history. From 2000-2009, Carroll posted a .835 winning percentage as head coach. Carroll led the Trojans to two national championships, produced three Heisman Trophy winners and boasted a national-record 33 consecutive weeks as the Associated Press’ top-ranked team. ESPN ranked the Trojans of 2000-2009 the best college football team of the decade. Carroll coached in the NFL prior to his tenure with the Trojans. The University of the Pacific graduate coached the New York Jets in 1994 for one unsuccessful season before leading the New England Patriots to the playoffs in 1997 and 1998. Carroll’s Patriots teams never made it past the Divisional Round of the playoffs. With the Seahawks, Carroll has gone 38-26 and reached the playoffs three times. The Denver Broncos’ defensive coordinator Jack Del Rio was a Trojan linebacker from 1981-1984 while also playing for USC’s baseball team. Del Rio was voted the co-MVP of the 1985 Rose Bowl, and was drafted 68th overall in the third round of the 1985 NFL Draft. The Castro Valley, Calif. native served as the interim head coach of the Broncos for four games earlier this season, when head coach John Fox was recovering from heart surgery. He also served as head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars from 2003-2011, taking what was at the time one of the worst-performing franchises in the NFL to the playoffs twice.Smith, Morgan, McCoy and Justice will add to the 104 previous Trojans who have appeared in Super Bowls. After this game, USC will have been represented in all but five of the 48 Super Bowls.
There are many diets out there and all of them proclaim to be the one that will work the best for your weight and health issues.Whenever a celebrity gets involved and starts to promote them, you always have to take them with a pinch of salt.Gwyneth Paltrow has teamed up with ‘Flow’ Alkaline water and will be making it part of her ‘Goop’ beauty brand throughout 2019. “The first of its kind campaign for the rapidly growing brand features Paltrow highlighting Flow’s naturally occurring essential minerals, electrolytes and an alkaline pH of +/- 8.1.”So, what is Alkaline water, and should we be drinking it for our health, and can it make any difference to it?The idea with these kinds of things come originally from the alkaline diet. While the Alkaline diet isn’t overly bad compared to some of the extreme diets that are on the market, what it claims to be able to do for your health is what the main issue is. The idea behind it is that many foods are the culprit of excessive acidity within our body. This is claimed to be the cause of weight gain, bone disorders like osteoporosis, energy loss, inflammation, ageing and even cancer*. (1)They claim that eating alkaline-forming foods can offset these issues and can even cure cancer.Food to include in the diet are: (2)Vegetables, green vegetables and fermented vegetablesFruits like apples, berries, lemon.Fat such as, avocado, almonds, seedsGrains like quinoaOther foods to include are; herbal tea, apple-cider vinegar and coconut water.Foods to exclude: Eggs, caffeinated drinks, milk, pasta and processed grains, alcoholSo, are our bodies in an ‘Acidic’ state and do they need regulation to ‘fix’ the other issues? When we look at the science on our bodies PH levels you will find that it is a very tightly regulated system. So tight, that even a small shift in blood PH can cause severe illness and even death. (3)Food alone cannot change the blood PH levels or have any effect on them, and this one point more or less debunks the main claims that the diet has. The levels of PH are measured in the diet through urine tests on litmus paper, and while foods can change the PH of urine they cannot change the PH of the blood. (Urine is separated from the blood by the bladder.) (4)It cannot help with osteoporosis. It absolutely cannot cure cancer and the creator of the diet has been jailed in the USA after people he was ‘treating’ died from their cancers. Why then do people make claims about the diet and claim that it ‘cured’ them from ailments and helped with their weight and health issues? That is simple. The diet consists of whole foods with huge amounts of fruit, vegetables and healthy meat sources. It is high in fibre, vitamins and minerals and apart from needlessly excluding foods, isn’t a bad way to set up your diet. The benefits you are getting from the Alkaline diet are just the benefits you are getting from ANY diet that reduces or eliminates highly processed foods and alcohol and increases whole foods, fruits and veg and water intake. There is nothing special about it and it doesn’t have any special miracle cures. It is simply another diet that has exaggerated claims that don’t stack up.Flow is set to be promoted throughout Europe over the next few months. With a high-profile celebrity like Paltrow behind them, I’m sure that we will begin to see another rise of the Alkaline diet along with it.Just know that you will be spending your money on something that will not and cannot have any effect on your health. So, save your money and just hydrate with normal water and eat more whole foods. That will stand to you better in the long run.#leanin2019Our next set of Lean in 2019 classes starts this Monday, September 16th.Now the kids are back to school, you can get back into routine and have time for yourself.Let us help you to achieve your goals.Click the link below to see our extensive range of times and membership options.https://www.rushefitness.ie/class/lean-in-2019-gym-plan/Spaces are filling up fast so don’t delay, get booking NOW and get the rest of 2019 off to a great start!References:1.https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3195546/2. http://thenutritionpress.com/debunking-the-alkaline-diet/3.https://www.rudymawer.com/blog/scientific-review-alkaline-diet-fact-fiction/4. https://sciencebasedpharmacy.wordpress.com/2009/11/13/your-urine-is-not-a-window-to-your-body-ph-balancing-a-failed-hypothesis/DD Fitness: Gwyneth Paltrow and the alkaline diet was last modified: September 13th, 2019 by Emmet RusheShare this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window)

Craddock urges Wolves to keep Arsenal target Bolyby Paul Vegas11 days agoSend to a friendShare the loveFormer Wolves skipper Jody Craddock is a fan of Willy Boly.Arsenal have been linked with Boly, who Wolves signed for £10m from Porto in the summer of 2018.“We definitely want him to stay at Wolves as he’s been doing so well, but he probably could walk into another team higher up the table,” Craddock told the Express & Star.“Hopefully, he doesn’t. But when you’ve got these players and they’re playing well, there’s always going to be clubs sniffing around them.”Then, it’s down to Wolves to do the job and keep hold of him if we want to step up to the table ourselves.” TagsTransfersAbout the authorPaul VegasShare the loveHave your say
avery johnson alabamaFormer NBA point guard and head coach Avery Johnson was recently hired to take over the reins of the Alabama basketball program, which has reached just one NCAA Tournament in the past nine seasons. Johnson has a tall task ahead of him, but he has lofty goals for his new squad, saying during his introductory press conference his program will try and live up to the standard set by Duke, the 2014-15 national champions. “Duke University, that’s the standard for us here at the University of Alabama and our basketball program,” Johnson said. “The way they play defense and offense. The way they move the ball, that’s the standard. Nobody else is the standard. That’s the standard. Duke University. That’s why I’m here.”If imitation is the most sincere form of flattery, it also makes for good publicity in this case. Judging by its Instagram post this morning, the Duke program is using Johnson’s quote to its marketing advantage. An obvious, but savvy move by Duke. We’re sure Johnson isn’t the only coach looking to get his program on the level of the Blue Devils but it’s easier said than done.

English retired footballer Jimmy Case points out that although Mark Hughes’ record from his first 16 league games is worse than any Saints manager since George Burley, patience is all the team needs, stating that Cherries are reaping the benefits of Eddie Howe’s longevity.“Eddie Howe has been at Bournemouth six years and they look settled as a team as a result,” said Case.“But Southampton have had six managers in that time and again there is talk about certain managers coming in.“I like Mark Hughes and the way his teams play and I think he needs a bit more time” case said via Bournemouthecho.“Some people shout from the terraces ‘you don’t know what you’re doing’ but when a new manager comes in it takes time to find out about your players and the best formation to use.“They look a bit tentative but whether they know the way they should be playing or are trying to find his way, I don’t know. I think they are just lacking a couple of results.”Case, haven spent the 1991-92 season at Dean Court after six years in Saints’ midfield under Chris Nicholl, added: “I have an affinity with both clubs.“I played for Southampton against Bournemouth years ago and it’s certainly been a turnabout.Eddie Howe pleased with attacking poise, but feels Wilson was too honest Stuart Heath – August 25, 2019 A.F.C Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe felt as though his striker Callum Wilson was too honest against Manchester City and may have won a penalty,…“When I left Bournemouth, Harry Redknapp and the chairman came to me and said they would have to let me go.“Although I was 39, I’d played nearly all the games but that was a moment when the banks had just come in and anyone at the end of their contract had to leave.“I said I would go on half money just to keep playing but me and Kevin Bond had to leave.“I used to have a cup of tea with the groundsman next to the lawnmowers in his shed underneath the stands!“They have come a hell of a long way since then.“They have a squad together that can maintain a push beyond mid-table and they have started really well.“As well as being a settled side, they have quality in there with forwards like Callum Wilson and Josh King”
