It is a one-of-its-kind initiative mooted by the Golf Industry Association (GIA) with the objective of introducing 100,000 new golfers into the game by 2022. The ILGW has also rallied support from the entire golfing fraternity including star professionals such as Gaganjeet Bhullar and Rahil Gangjee and apex bodies of the sport led by the Indian Golf Union (IGU), Women’s Golf Association of India (WGAI), National Golf Association of India (NGAI), Golf Course Superintendents and Managers Association of India (GCS&MAI), as well as the Professional Golf Association (PGA) of America. The inaugural edition of ILGW in 2017 had seen 27 clubs from 15 cities initiate 7000 new individuals to the game. This year with the increased reach, more than 15000 new golfers are set to get their first lessons in the game, keeping ILGW on track to achieve the figure of 100,000 in the next four years.
