The London Borough of Newham has recruited nine qualifiedsocial worker within the UK in the first six weeks of a recruitment campaign beingrun with the help of a dedicated team from professional support serviceorganisation Capita. Council looks down under to fill social work postslOn 9 Nov 2000 in Personnel Today Rashid Patel, principal HR officer for London Borough ofNewham, said, “Suitable candidates were pre-selected and screened by Capita,saving us valuable time and resources and ensuring that only appropriatecandidates were invited to attend panel interviews. “Consequently, 95 per cent of those interviewed were offeredand accepted social work positions within Newham.” Now, Capita is preparing to introduce an internationalcampaign to target suitable candidates in Australia and New Zealand to helpfill remaining vacancies at Newham.
